It wasn't the first time I had logged on and asked the future overlord something, but it was the first time I used it for strategic work.
Context: I will be recording an online course next week titled 'How to Get Booked as a Guest on Podcasts' (until I can find a sexier name). Last month, I recorded a workshop that covered the process, but I wasn't 100% sure how to structure the material into an actual course.
So, I asked the robot. Yes, I recorded it (watch here)
Here are my biggest takeaways:
The incredible speed and accuracy of the first draft blew me away. It produced 10 modules with 3 sections in each. Each module was built upon the last, and the structure was very detailed and practical.
Providing it with more content and written materials seemed to improve the outputs. For example, I asked it to think like an online course expert and also provided a long-form article that I wrote about getting booked on podcasts. The second version of the outline, with this additional context, provided much more concise and useful points.
Asking for an expansion of the strategies fell flat. I only tried it with a few points, but its ability to contextually provide deep strategy resulted in content that was similar to those generic marketing blog posts we all hate.
As I edit the structure of this course, I will find out how much of the outline material can be used in my recording. There is no doubt that the outline from ChatGPT saved 45-90 minutes of research and guesswork on how to structure the course.
